SHORT BREAKS 4/5 night breaks are calculated at 70% of the weekly rate. 2/3 night breaks are calculated at 50% of the weekly rate.

BOOKING Please telephone to confirm availability for the time that you require. I will reserve the cottage for you for five clear working days to enable you to forward to me a 20% deposit and a completed Booking Form. Thereafter, I will write to you confirming your reservation and giving you the date by which the balance is due. The balance of the cost for the period for which you have booked is due no later than four weeks before the start of the let. In the event that you are booking less than 4 weeks before the start of the let, payment in full will be required with the Booking Form. Please calculate the cost of your stay at the price stated for the date on which you wish to start your holiday. For subsequent weeks, please calculate using the price current at the start of that week.

CANCELLATION BY YOU If you have to cancel your holiday, you should write to me at my address as soon as the reason for the cancellation occurs. The day that I receive your written notification is the date of cancellation. A charge
will be payable depending on the number of days before the holiday start date I receive your notice of cancellation.

You may wish to consider taking out an insurance policy to cover you in the event that you should need to cancel.

Arriving and Leaving: You may arrive at or after 4.00 p.m. If you would like to arrive earlier, please mention it at the time of booking and I will let you know whether it will be possible. It would assist if you could keep me informed of your likely time of arrival, so that I can meet you. I ask that you vacate by 10.00 a.m. on the final day to allow us to clean the cottage prior to the next occupants arriving. Thank you.
Although I would ask that you keep the cottage in a reasonably clean and tidy state during your stay and place all rubbish in the black wheelie bin prior to leaving, the final clean is included in the price of your holiday. You are responsible for the actual cost of any breakage or damage in or to the accommodation - along with any additional costs that may result - which are caused by you or your party. Rubbish is collected on a Thursday morning.

The price of your stay includes: Electricity, heating, bed linen (changed weekly if your stay is for more than one week) and tea towels. Towels are available at no extra cost (to include one hand and one bath towel each).
A welcome pack is provided for your arrival consisting of a pint of milk, a starter supply of tea and coffee.
Please let me know if you are lactose intolerant and require an alternative to dairy milk. Please do not allow more persons to stay in the cottage than the maximum stated in my brochure.
The cottage has the benefit of television, with DVD and free WiFi – the code is behind the hub next to the TV.

Other useful information: There is no telephone in the property. However, there is a public telephone box near the Ostrich Inn. Reception is available on O2 and Vodafone. The reception on EE is intermittent. However, in common with most of the Forest, other networks are non-starters!
The cottage has a washing machine - after some consideration and taking advice, I decided against a washer/tumbler dryer. However, there is a drying rack, a circular washing line adjacent, and I am happy to tumble dry for a nominal cost of £1.50 per load.
In the cottage you will find ample reading material and folder containing tourist information so that you can plan your stay, which I hope will be a happy one. There are a number of public footpaths accessible directly from the cottage. Furthermore, by driving a couple of miles down to Redbrook on the river Wye and walking across the foot bridge, you will find a large number of footpaths on the Welsh side of the Wye.

I have equipped the cottage with maps for your use. However, you can order various maps, walking and cycling guides in advance via the Forest of Dean tourism web site:

Finally, just a reminder that The Cottage is NO SMOKING.

Please telephone or text me the day before the start of your holiday to let me know your expected time of arrival.
